MANNY MANIA x SAUCE Recap

A little late on posting this news...been keeping busy for the summer season to start. Last Sunday we teamed up with Red Bull for Manny Mania at Tanner- a super success. A huge thanks of gratitude to RB for the collabo love. For those that don't know we teamed up with them to produce a one of a kind limited t-shirt. Thanks to everyone who came out to support. Yes, the rumors you heard are all true...Red Bull is bringing the Manny Mania qualifications to Tanner this June 13th. Stay tuned for more details...

Skate & Solidarity

A few months back we shipped 8 boxes worth of sneakers to the local skate community in Uganda. Thanks to our man Andy for allowing us to get involved with his mission. When you buy one of these shirts you will be directly supporting the dreams & programing of the Ugandan Skateboard Union. Amidst a war- torn landscape, the union, founded by Jackson Miribu, provides youth healthy alternatives to daily Ugandan struggle through skateboarding. In a country torn by two decades of civil conflict where children make up a large section of the casualties, these kids are building a tangible alternative as well as a social center were orphans, and members of opposing tribes can come together over skating. In future months the union hopes to expand their park & to build an adjacent school & social center your purchase will allow them to do that. Learn more at here. HBO- How To Make It In AMerica- "The Get By"

Something interesting from HBO. They drop a nearly 20 minute long video, entitled
“The Get By” as part of their new show How To Make It in America that takes a look at NYC skateboarding. Footage and interviews featuring Anthony Pappalardo, Steve Rodriguez, Billy Rohan and many more.

Doing a little bit of catch up...Last Friday we got together with our man Dan Pheos to celebrate the premier of his newest video achievement Beatloaf. If you weren't here, all we can say is that it was a success. We had over 100 heads strong to support Hazel. Thank you Pheos for bringing the whole family together. NOTE:
You must show up at least 1 hour before the Game of SKATE start time to check in at each event you have registered for. Check-In and Registration ends promptly when the contest begins. There is no online registration this year, all sign-ups are at the Game of SKATE location prior to start time only.

Official éS Game of SKATE winners from across the U.S. will be flown to California for the Amateur World Championships, (dates and locations for 2009 are TBD).

NIKE SB | "DEBACLE" VIDEO NYC FILM PREMIERE

It's going to be a long day kiddies. Be sure to come prepared...

Immediately following the Rooftop Rampage contest, Nike SB will be premiering their latest video entitled "Debacle" on June 13th in NYC.
It will feature: Justin Brock, Daryl Angel, David Clark, Grant Taylor
and Shane O'neil. Unlike "Nothing But the Truth" there will be no skits,
just a barrage of straight skate footage. Pay it forward- spread the news...

If you missed out on the last two years, now is your chance to make up for it. Red Bull drops the 3rd. "Manny Mania" installment by kick starting a 15 city AM Series tour this Sunday in NYC with their Pro Event.

In case you're feeling a little nostalgic...

Be sure to take note of the beats being dropped that day by none other than DJ Bobbito Garcia (aka Kool Bob Love). For those of you that remember the Sauce record shop with Nick & Big Chris, we hosted that infamous in-store with Bobbito back in May of '01. If you happen to have flicks, pay it forward and let us know.

ELWOOD '09 TOUR RECAP

This past Thursday we hosted the Elwood "Dressin'For Recession" Tour. With three dates remaining, the team made their way to us for a signing and spent some time getting to know Special Sauce and our skate family. A special shout to Bryan from Elwood for setting the event up with us, and to the entire team for providing us with the opportunity to build.
